Galvanized
V-Torsion Axles with Brakes
Boatwheels Custom Aluminum Boat Trailers uses
galvanized v-bent torsion axles on all trailer models; allowing for a lower
center of gravity and a more attractive appearance. Our axles
are equipped with hydraulic brakes (disc or drum) and we use DOT
approved flexible brake lines.
A torsion axle is a simple steel shaft mounted in
rubber inside a steel tube. There is a trailing "arm"
on each end of the axle with a normal spindle to mount a hub.
Torsion axles, when compared to spring axles, ride smoother,
have inherent shock absorption qualities and fewer moving parts,
therefore, less maintenance problems. Our axles come with
accu-lube hubs, making lubrication far easier. Torsion axles have
become the predominately used axle in better trailers.
Additionally, because our axles are galvanized, they are
rust-resistant and long lasting.
Brake Choice
All brakes are not equal. That is why Alumina offers each boater
the choice of either disc or drum brakes. Depending on the
individual clients needs, brakes can be customized to fit how and
where each trailer will be used.
Boatwheels Trailers are equipped with Carlisle
tires and galvanized steel rims. Approved for over-the-highway
use, these tires comply with U.S. Department of Transportation
requirements. Their long-lasting, wrap-around tread provides
sure cornering and safe travel.
Two guide poles are provided with each Boatwheels
trailer up to 10,000 GVWR. Manufactured from aluminum and covered
with PVC pipe, the guide poles help guide your boat on and off the
trailer while ramping. (Guide poles are available upon request for
larger trailers.)
Covered with marine grade carpet, our adjustable solid
oak bunks make ramping a breeze and are easy on your boat.
Boatwheels uses heavy-duty, aluminum, diamond-plate
fenders on all trailers. These fenders are impressive in both
looks and durability.
Our heavy-duty winch has two speeds and a 10,000 pound
strap. It is mounted on a fully adjustable galvanized stand,
making your trailering secure and versatile.
Boatwheels equips all trailers with a zinc-plated,
adjustable tongue jack with caster wheel. Drop-leg jacks are
used on all of our heavy-duty models.
Our trailers are equipped with heavy-duty, zinc-plated
safety chains with a retaining clasp that ensures security while on
the road.
Aluminum
I-Beam Construction
Boatwheels manufactures only aluminum trailers. Our
trailers use double bent, aluminum I-beam construction with stainless
steel mainframe bolts and zinc plated U-bolts. Tie-down bracket
are included on all trailer frames.
We have borrowed the bolt-together technology of the
auto industry to design a trailer that is never in danger of
"cracking a weld". The bolt-together design allows for a
safe, flexible trailer frame that will never crack.
Why is aluminum better than
steel?
Unlike steel, aluminum is inherently resistant to rust and corrosion,
and it needs no paint or galvanization. Steel trailers not only
require painting, but tubular frame construction has been known to
rust undetected from the inside, which can result in frame breakage
and load damage. Aluminum is stronger than steel and will not weaken
because of rust and corrosion. In addition, aluminum's lighter
weight lessens the strain on your towing vehicle which also reduces
gas consumption.
Boatwheels sets itself apart from many other trailer
manufacturers by providing LED lights as a standard feature. The
LED lighting technology offers the following benefits:
*have no filaments to break or replace, therefore,
they are essentially maintenance free!
*are corrosion and moisture resistant.
*are less susceptible to shock and vibration.
*draw 10 - 15% less amps than incandescent lighting.
*are rated at 100,000 hours - this is over 10 years of continuous
use!
*improve braking response time because they illuminate faster than
conventional incandescent lighting.
*meet or exceed DOT FMVSS 108 / Canadian CMVSS requirements.
Wiring With Grommets and Waterproof Connections
Many trailer manufacturers cut corners with sloppy wiring that
allows for quick manufacturing, as well as quick
malfunctioning. A Boatwheels trailer uses plastic grommets in
every hole drilled to protect the wire and prevent chaffing that
will lead to shorts/malfunctioning. Additionally, the wire
connections used are made with mechanical crimps and sealed with
waterproof heat shrink connectors.
