Frequently Asked
Questions
Why is aluminum better
than steel?
Unlike steel, aluminum is inherently resistant to rust and corrosion,
and it needs no paint or galvanization. Steel trailers not only
require painting, but tubular frame construction has been known to rust
undetected from the inside, which can result in frame breakage and load
damage. Aluminum is stronger than steel and will not weaken because of
rust and corrosion. In addition, aluminum's lighter weight lessens
the strain on your towing vehicle which also reduces gas consumption;
the weight of steel adds to both strain and gas consumption.

What's the difference
between torsion axles and spring axles?
Boatwheels Custom Aluminum Boat Trailers uses galvanized
torsion axles on all trailer models. A torsion axle is a simple
steel shaft mounted in rubber inside a steel tube. There is a
trailing "arm" on each end of the axle with a normal spindle
to mount a hub. Torsion axles, when compared to spring axles,
ride smoother, have inherent shock absorption qualities and fewer moving
parts, therefore, less maintenance problems. Our axles come with
accu-lube hubs, making lubrication far easier. Torsion axles have become
the predominately used axle in better trailers. Furthermore,
because our axles are galvanized, they are rust-resistant and long
lasting.

What is the advantage of LED
lights?
One of the biggest complaints of boat trailer user's
is the hassle of malfunctioning incandescent lights. LED
lighting technology offers a hassle-free system for illuminating your
trailer.
LED lights...
*are corrosion and moisture resistant
*are less susceptible to shock and vibration
*draw 10 - 15% less amps than incandescent lighting
*are rated at 100,000 hours - this is over 10 years of continuous
use!
*improve braking response time because it illuminates faster than
conventional incandescent lighting
*meet or exceeds DOT FMVSS 108 / Canadian CMVSS requirements
*have no filaments to break and have to replace
